“But the Lord has become my stronghold, and my God the rock of my refuge.”
Psalm 94:22
We can’t be owned by tomorrows that have not happened or by the fear of things that may happen. We have to stay in the moment, or we’re going to miss the blessings of the moment. The blessings for us, and—more importantly—the blessing we can be to others.
I’m not a power of positive thinking guy, laws of attraction guy. Maybe they work, maybe they don’t, I don’t know, and it’s not for me to rob you of what may work for you.
But what works for me when I think about fears, and I think about tomorrow, is that the rock I intend to stand on must be unshakeable, unmovable, intransigent. And that’s the Lord. He is my stronghold, my rock of refuge.
It requires faith, and it doesn’t mean all my emotions are quelled. But as time goes, days roll, seconds tick, minutes run that stronghold, that rock of refuge (our Lord Jesus Christ) puts my fears in their proper place…with me/us standing on top of them and looking ahead without any terror.
