“Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”—Isaiah 64:8
I never worked with clay, but I have an idea about how clay is supposed to work. You press it, and it conforms to that pressure. You round it, and it rounds, you flatten it, and it flattens. You roll it, and it rolls. It’s very obedient to our actions, very pliable.
It would flabbergast us—blow us away—if it didn’t respond. If we flattened and then it rolled, or if we rolled, and then it flattened itself. We’re the authority, we’re the power, and yet it won’t abide by our will.
How then can anything ever take shape?
The Lord, our Father, the creator of the universe, the one that loves us beyond measure, the one that went to the cross for us—yeah, that one—he has flattened, rolled and pressed all of us at one time or another. Have we accepted this or have we rebelled?
A nice aspect of clay, as long as it remains pliable, is that you can always start over.—Think about that.
Another quality of clay that, because it is pliable, is you can always work with it.—It’s never, really, quite finished.
Pliable clay can be made into a shape and then remade into something new.—Be made into something new? Mmm?
The Scripture above says we are the clay, he is the potter and that we are the work of his hands. So that must mean as long as we allow ourselves to be pliable clay in his hands there will always be the opportunity to start over, that he’s never finished with us and we can always be made into something new.
Is that not exciting? And all we have to do is remain pliable. Obedient to the work of his hands.
Boom!

It wouldn’t start, and a police officer said if they didn’t get it started they were going to two the bus away. The students got behind the bus and began to push, they pushed it through the intersection and nearly through another before the driver was able to pop-the-clutch and start it back up again.

As believers, we have to remain in continual prayer for all of our first responders…all our leaders…not a political party but for those carrying the heavy burden of leadership in our country and communities.
