FaithView, For Storm Riders:
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”—Acts 4:12
Every time I read this Scripture, I’m reminded of a scene from “The Godfather” when Sonny looks at his brother Michael and smiles; “Hey, whatta ya going do? Nice college boy doesn’t want to get mixed up in the family business?”
I know, it seems silly, but the longer I go with the Lord. The deeper I study his Word. The more faith I pour into him and the more peace I gain…I’m stunned when I see people look for other answers or attempt to find other avenues/means to salvation.
This “stunned” feeling isn’t about people who don’t know the Lord in the first place. It does not surprise me that those who have never heard the Word, been testified to about the Word or accepted the Word would go looking for something else. It doesn’t even apply to someone who believes this whole Christian-experience is hogwash.
What “stuns” are those who have confessed a faith in Christ and are now seeking, somehow/someway, around it. Not necessarily denying Christ, but searching for way around his final authority.
If you keep looking for a dream come true, eventually, you’ll find a dream come true. Like buying your insurance from Progressive. They’ll tailor a plan to fit your specific needs.
And many will come and offer you a plan that includes an identification with Christ and an image of Christ but suited to your desire for no condemnation. It will include no guilt, no responsibility or acknowledgment of the consequences for your actions.
If that’s your spiritual dream come true, why are you wasting any time with Christ? When you tailor your plan, it’s your plan or the plan that someone else is offering you. Why hassle this attempt to appear Christian?
But I can share with you—with absolute authority—the plan you’ve acquired elsewhere is not the Biblical plan for salvation.
You may not realize but you already have your dream come true. Your dream come true is an eternal God going to the cross for your sins and not his. An eternal God who loves you beyond measure and is offering you eternal life.
An eternal God who conditions his grace on you confessing your sins and believing in him.
No one else can do that…There is no other name you can call upon…There is no other hope you can cling to…No good works of yours that will make it happen…That can/will do what Christ has done.
To seek another answer is a recipe for a brutal life because there is no other name by which we can be saved.
“Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”—Philippians 2:9-11
