“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”—Isaiah 46:4
When we are old, he will lift us up. When we are in trouble, he will rescue us…And then there’s the best part. Maybe you think it’s all the “best” part…and I won’t argue…but the part I like, the part I’d briefly like to take a look at here is when the Lord says, “I have made you, and I will carry you.”
He made me. Not the decisions I have made for myself, but he made me/us with the gifts and skills that we have. It might be a talent highly valued in the world’s eyes…It might be a talent the world is unable to comprehend…It might be a gift that takes us forever to understand…It might be a gift that is so awesome it takes a lifetime to learn how to wield it.
Whatever it maybe, he—the Lord—made me/us…For his purpose. We abuse this blessing with our poor choices…We are slow to recognize this blessing because we are even slower in coming to the God who is the creator of the universe.
But whether we are on the mark…or late arriving…we can trust that he made us.
The struggle comes in that we only get an inkling of this blessing until we strive to live a life that glorifies the Lord. The more we see him, the more we surrender to him, the better we come to see that we are/were fearfully and wonderfully made.
With a plan!
I can handle being tall, short, bald, awkward with no ability in music…no ability to excel in sports…no ability to shine in a way that is to be praised by the culture…because I know that he made me…He will carry me, and he will show me every good thing that there is to have in him.
As well as to employ the gifts, he imparted to me for his glory…and my joy.
Boom!
