FaithView, For Storm Riders:
“…Say to those with fearful hearts, ‘Be strong, do not fear; your God will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.’”—Isaiah 35:4
I understand the old Delta saying of, “Don’t get mad, get even.” Totally get it. First instinct when you take a punch is to give one back.
The punch back seldom solves anything and makes you feel better for only a short time. The punch back is also used by Satan (yes, contrary to some popular theological positions, there is a Satan) to make you feel less than. They are used to remind you that you are not that great of a Christian…And perhaps never will be.
The Scripture above tells us not to fear, and it also tells us that the Lord has got our back. He will take care of us. He will save us. He will deliver us.
This message gets lost because we allow other messages to come in and take priority over it. The culture gives us doom, gloom, terror, and a thirty-second puppy story at the end of a newscast.
And we believe it is the worst time, moment, period in human history.
Satan’s number one weapon in attempting to separate us from the love of God is not sex, drugs, and rock & roll…Satan’s number one weapon is to remove hope from us. The absence of hope makes us feel alone, the absence of hope makes us feel adrift and the absence of hope will cause us to cling to any perceived lifeline.
Folks, your lifeline is the Scripture…Read the Scripture…Heed the message…Don’t worry so much about punching back and dwell instead on the simple truths of the Lord…First: Jesus died for everyone, including those who have hurt you…Second: He will deliver you, he (drum roll please) will bring you justice…and deliver hope.
Boom!
