Scripture For The Day:
“The fruit of righteousness will be peace: the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.”—Isaiah 32:17

If there is anything a believer struggles with it is confidence…and yet the answer to confidence is found in this short verse.

In 28 years of ministry, I’ve had up times and down times. Times where I felt like I could walk through fire and times when the mere prospect of a conversation was enough to make me want to stay in bed the rest of the day.

Certainly, this is not unique.

Believers struggle with worthiness. The belief that somehow (sinfully, I might add) that the blood of Christ wasn’t/isn’t sufficient enough to cleanse them of their sins. As if they’d committed some deed in their past that prevents/precludes them from ever going forward in their faith…From ever sharing about it, from ever acting on it and settling for a hidden corner of the kingdom. Happy to be inside the gates and nothing more.

Believers also struggle with the belief that their view or commentary on scripture—or the Christian life—carries any weight or value when put alongside the giants of the faith and the denomination. When placed alongside those who teach theology, studied theology in school and/or have multiple frames of parchment hanging on their wall. Folks, understand that if you live your life this way you are subjecting yourselves to the whims, thoughts, fads of man.

Instead, you have to submit to the truth of Scripture and the leading of the Holy Spirit. This does not mean you shouldn’t study…If you are constantly exploring and seeking within the Bible, you will come to understand and cling to the truth that never (spoil, perish, fade) fails. A truth that doesn’t change with the whims of churchianity, the political climate, or the failing of leadership.

NewsFlash: If you live the righteous life that God calls you to live…and persist in it, confidence will be yours. You won’t have to wait for someone else to tell you your thoughts or motivations are correct…The Holy Spirit will confirm them for you…You will find peace…and the quietness and confidence that comes with righteousness.

…And this is when you become very dangerous to the enemy…and this is why you need to live confidently as a believer.

Boom!
