Scripture For The Day:
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.”—Revelation 3:20

First thought?

What would you serve Jesus to eat? Do you think he got a little tired of fish while he was hanging with the disciples?

Well, don’t stress. If Jesus knocks on the door invite him in, make him comfortable and serve tacos. Tacos always make for a good meal.

There…Scriptural insight for the day is complete…

Of course, we know, he’s knocking on the door of the church (not on the door of a non-believer) to be let back in. And we know if we let him in, he’s going to talk to us while we’re relaxing and eating tacos. He’s going to admonish, encourage, rebuke and restore.

This is why we keep him outside…because…if he comes in, he’s going to change things. Alas, a holiness message comes to the forefront; he wants control, and we don’t want to give up control. He knows what’s best for us, but we “THINK” we know what’s best for us.

It’s understandable as an individual…but when you are looking at it from the perspective of the church…Isn’t it amazing that Jesus has to ask to come in at all? The church knows that if he comes in, he’s going to require Christianity…The church knows it will have to surrender churchianity—our programs, our wisdom, our manufactured holiness, sanctimony and self-righteousness.

There’s the conflict…and that is why, for many, the door stays locked and shut.

Boom!

  1. If we’re to serve Jesus tacos, rest assured that they came from Jack in the Box. Even He would give a “thumbs up”.

That was an interesting note on Eric Liddell. He never compromised his faith.
