Scripture For The Day:
“For my Father’s will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”—John 6:40

When I was about fifteen, I visited my dad up north. He was married to his fourth wife (4th of 8) who was stern but nice to me. Her side of the family came over for dinner. Her niece, about 26 at the time, had a conversation with me about religion.

She said they were Christian but that the church her, and her husband, attended felt the Father needed to be honored equally with the Son. Their theology, which they said was Christian and loving and true…was anything but.

It didn’t sound right to me when I was fifteen, and by the time I was twenty-five, I understood the theology was thoroughly bankrupt and clearly not based on scripture. This was a sweet woman, great husband, well intended but wrong.

Sometimes as believers we fail to recognize bad theology because it is often couched inside people who look like us, sound like us, use our terminology but do not acknowledge who Jesus is and the scripture that speaks of him.

Folks everything…everything…runs through Christ. It is at the name of Jesus that every knee shall bow. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. And as the scripture says above; it is the Father’s will that everyone who looks to the Son (Jesus) and believes in him will be saved.

That tells me that any thought or theology deviating from Christ…is corrupt, wrong and evil.

Boom!
