Scripture For The Day:
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”—John 10:10
I’ve been surprised over the years by the reaction I get from people when I use the expression “Fire Insurance” in regards to salvation…The point being we’ve accepted Christ—got our fire insurance—and now we’re all done.
This was an old joke when I got into the ministry way back in 1990…it still gets a solid laugh…but unfortunately, it is still an argument we have to make with believers now and in the future.
News Flash! YOU ARE NOT DONE WHEN YOU ACCEPT CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART…GOD IS NOT DONE WITH YOU WHEN YOU ACCEPT CHRIST INTO YOUR HEART…
A relationship with the Lord is more than just having a fire insurance policy that will keep you from the flames of Hell…—Yes, full disclosure, I’m one of those pastors who believes what the Bible says about Hell…Radical huh?—.., The scripture above does say that Christ has come so that we may have life—hooray, hooray, hooray—but it also shares that he came so that we may have life to the full.
Our life with Christ should be a source of constant joy. Joy while we are living and breathing on this planet, in this life…He wants us to have a great life…He wants us to have the desires of our heart…He wants us to be successful…He wants to bless us…and he does.
The fact that I/we also experience forgiveness and eternal life on top of all of this…? Wow!
You can have the world and worry, stress, and fret about a judge’s decision or an election outcome…I’m going to rejoice because I have life.
