Scripture For The Day:
“But Ruth replied, ‘Don’t urge me to leave your or turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me, be it ever so severely, if anything but death separates you and me.’”—Ruth 1:16-17
Ruth is saying this to her mother-in-law, Naomi. Namoi is a Hebrew/Israelite, and Ruth is a Moabite. When they are about to be separated because Ruth’s husband—Naomi’s son—dies, she says the above to her mother-in-law.
If you are looking for an example of holiness, look at this scripture. Ruth already has a relationship and love for Naomi, but in this passage she surrenders everything else to stay with her.
Do we not have a relationship and love for Christ? So the next question is, are you willing to surrender everything else to walk with him? Ruth gives up her country, her gods, her right to go back to Moab and find another husband.
How about us? Holiness requires us…it requires us surrendering to the Lord…We know we are loved but are we willing to trust the one that loves us with everything to leave behind all that we think is ours by right and/or desire?
