Scripture For The Day:
“If we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”—Romans 14:8
When you think of holiness, you have to remember that it is not about jumping through hoops or some other attempt for outward validation that will lead another to say, “Oh, yes, that person is quite holy.”
The essence of it is that we, flat out, belong to the Lord. We live for the Lord, we die for the Lord and all the stuff in between is done for the Lord.
The next question that may pop to mind is, “If you do everything for the Lord then that means you’ll never leave the church, you’ll become a minister, you’ll become a missionary…you’ll have to keep doing and doing, and there won’t be any time for anything else…”
Sorry Hans, wrong thought.
We apply the scripture above to our lives when we identify openly with our faith and do our best to live it out in all circumstances. Whether we are being watched or not, we do all things as if it were directly for the Lord.
I love my family as I know the Lord loves my family, I do for others as I know the Lord would do for others, I prepare, I work, I clean house, I speak, write, interact as if I were doing so to the Lord.
This is not a case of “What Would Jesus Do” but a case of knowing what Jesus has already done.
Accepting the work he did on the cross and living a life worthy, honoring, of the redemption he gave me.
